I reserved this from my local library... gee it is a really interesting book! It's much, much longer than Mindless Eating (I started reading it Saturday and am not even halfway through yet) and very insightful as to the politics that go on behind food labelling and nutritional guidelines in the US. Some of it is applicable to Australia and some of it isn't. It seems to be a very balanced book, with the key refrain being that a varied diet is far more important than any one food or food group (eg... "Milk is just a food. There is nothing special about it. Cow's milk is not necessary... You do not have to drink milk to be healthy, but if you like drinking it, you can do so and stay healthy" p90) So... if milk is not necessary, why is it recommended (by the government here and in the US) to have 2-3 serves a day? The answer is in this book...
